Basically, the leather should be cleaned with our leather cleaner and thoroughly degreased with leather degreaser before the color is refreshed. If there are scratches, abrasions or slight fading, the original color of the leather will be refreshed with our leather dye. Deep scratches, cracks, etc. can be filled with our liquid leather. After dyeing the leather with the leather dye, we recommend sealing and caring for the leather. The sealing protects against renewed wear and care stops the leather from deteriorating and protects against fading.
Our leather dye has been developed for the recoloring of fading and abrasions on smooth leather. You can often find this damage in the entry area of cars and on leather steering wheels and on the front edges of furniture and in the armrest area.
Our leather dye refreshes the original color. It is opaque and abrasion-resistant.
We recommend using a spray gun for recoloring.
Always check all products first in a hidden area for changes or correctness of color!
Application:
- Leather cleaner
Pour the cleansing foam onto a sponge. Do not apply directly to the leather. Use the foam to clean the leather from seam to seam. Repeat the process several times if necessary. Remove dirt and cleaning residue with a damp cloth, then allow to dry. In older leather, stains also penetrate the leather or what appears to be dirt is color damage. Such stains cannot always be removed, or not at all, with cleaners.
- Leather degreaser
Lightly moisten a clean cloth with the leather remover and go over the greasy areas. Especially with open leather (suede leather, aniline leather, etc.) you should only briefly go over the leather with a cloth to avoid edges and stains. Not all areas of fat can be completely removed. After cleaning with leather degreaser, the leather must be re-protected with leather sealant.
- Liquid leather
Open the tube and fill the damaged areas with the liquid leather. Distribute the liquid leather evenly with a spatula. Then let it dry for 1 - 2 hours depending on the filling quantity. Repeat the process until the repair area is as smooth and filled as possible.
In the case of larger damage, it is sometimes not possible to get the surface of the repair nice and even and smooth just by filling it. Such damaged areas then have to be reworked. However, liquid leather cannot be sanded dry. This would damage the repair area.
In cases where smoothing of the repair area is required, this can be done with solvent, acetone, nail polish remover. The solvent dissolves the top layer of the repair compound so that the surface can be easily reworked. You can use a latex glove by lightly wetting your index finger and using it to slightly smooth the repair area. Alternatively, the repair area can also be refinished with the sanding pad. Both methods are used to smooth a repair. Always work carefully and with little solvent. If you work too wet, the repair area will “blur.” In this way, you can recreate a repair until you are satisfied with the result.
Liquid leather repairs must finally be color-matched with the leather dye to compensate for differences in color and shine. In order to adequately cover the liquid leather, the leather dye should be applied several times and dried with a hairdryer in between. Then seal and care for the leather a day later
- Leather color
Apply the leather dye evenly to the affected areas from seam to seam using a sponge or paint gun and dry with a hairdryer. For small areas, applying to the affected area is sufficient. Only treat areas with color changes. If high coverage is required, apply the leather dye in several thin layers and dry with a hairdryer in between.
- Leather sealing
Apply the leather sealant thinly with a soft cloth and allow to dry without polishing. One order is sufficient. Repeat every 3 months for stressed surfaces.
- Leather Protector
The Leather Protector is applied when the leather has dried after cleaning or refreshing the color. Usually the next day. Apply thinly with a soft cloth and allow to dry without polishing. One order is sufficient. Repeat every 3 months for stressed surfaces (heavy use or near heating or in the sun).
