✅ Preparation
- Workplace bright, dust-free, approx. 15–25 °C room temperature.
- Tape the steering wheel in the vehicle thoroughly (seams, airbag, plastic/metal parts).
- Wear disposable gloves; shake the product bottle.
🔧 Step-by-step instructions (without liquid leather)
Degreasing
With leather degreaser &Clean thoroughly with a soft cloth; degrease the grip areas (10–2/3–9 o'clock) especially carefully. Allow to dry.
Masking && Test
Tape off any seams/trims. Test the paint on an inconspicuous area (check adhesion/gloss level).
Paint application – thin & multi-layered
Leather paint black with applicator thin Apply. 2–3 very thin coats are better than one thick one. Allow a short drying time between coats.
Recommendation: Surface lukewarm Blow-dry (not hot), promotes cross-linking.
sealing
Once completely dry, apply a thin layer of sealant. It protects against abrasion and hand sweat.
💡 Pro tips
- No liquid leather needed: Original leather remains tactile &Visible, no rigid filler layers. Only necessary for deep scratches, holes, etc.
- Work thin: Thin layers = higher abrasion resistance & better optics.
- Please note contact times: Allow to air dry briefly between coats and then dry with a hairdryer.
- Regular care: Refresh the protective layer with sealant every 3–6 months.
❌ Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- Inadequate cleaning → adhesion problems. Solution: Degrease thoroughly.
- Too thick a layer of paint → cracks/peeling. Solution: 2–3 very thin layers.
- No sealing → faster abrasion. Solution: Always seal the finish.
- Too early loading → shiny spots. Solution: 24 hours protection, 7 days final hardness.
