Repairing BMW leather with liquid leather

Small cracks and indentations in BMW seats or leather steering wheels can be repaired locally using stable, pigmented smooth leather. The type of leather and the BMW color code must be clearly identified before the repair.

Damage first, then product selection

  • Only color abrasion: Apply BMW leather dye thinly; liquid leather is not necessary.
  • Small crack or notch: Fill the depression sparingly, let it dry, adjust the color, and protect it.
  • Open seam, deep tear or loose leather: First, have it repaired in a way that allows it to function properly.

Check BMW leather type and color

Depending on the model series and equipment, BMW used various leather names, including Dakota, Nevada, Montana, Vernasca, Nappa, and Merino, as well as different synthetic leather designations. A model number alone does not reliably determine the exact color. Check the equipment code, color name, or an original sample.

Application on the BMW seat or steering wheel

  1. Check the type of leather, color, and load-bearing capacity.
  2. Remove dirt and care product residue.
  3. Degrease the repair area according to the product instructions.
  4. Carefully smooth any loose edges.
  5. Fill only the depression in thin layers.
  6. After drying, thinly blend the BMW leather dye.
  7. Seal and allow to harden completely.

A notice: Do not use oily or slippery cleaning agents on steering wheels. Airbag areas, controls, and seams must not be affected.
