Does your damage really require liquid leather?
Liquid leather replaces missing material in a depression. Therefore, it is not necessary for every visible damage. First, check whether only the color is damaged or whether the surface is actually torn or dented.

How to properly use VILOU liquid leather
Check material and damage
Apply only to suitable, stable smooth or synthetic leather. Test on an inconspicuous area for material compatibility and any changes.
Clean thoroughly
dirt with the VILOU Leather Cleaner remove. In case of grease or care product build-up, additional targeted measures are taken. degrease. Allow to dry completely.
Prepare for damage
Remove or stabilize any loose or unstable edges professionally. If there is a hole, suitable backing may be necessary.
Fill thinly
Apply liquid leather sparingly into the depression using a spatula and smooth it out. Build up deep areas in several thin layers.
Let it dry in between.
Allow each layer to dry completely; the existing product instructions indicate approximately 1–2 hours per layer as a guideline. The ambient conditions and layer thickness will affect the drying time. Do not use a hairdryer to speed up the process.
Color and protection complement
After the leather has completely dried, apply a thin coat of the appropriate leather dye. Then, proceed according to the application. Leather sealing protect.
Important: Liquid leather fills the damage, but does not automatically replace the exact surface color. For a visually matching finish, you will generally need a suitable VILOU leather dye.
The VILOU repair system
1. Cleaning→2. Degrease if necessary→3. Liquid leather→4. Leather color→5. Seal
Not every type of damage requires all five steps. The diagnosis determines the repair: simple paint abrasion is not unnecessarily filled; in the case of a depression, the surface is first built up and then the color is matched.

Frequently asked questions about liquid leather
What is liquid leather?
Liquid leather is a flexible repair compound that can be used to fill small depressions, cracks, cuts and suitable holes in stable pigmented smooth leather or many synthetic leathers.
Is liquid leather also a suitable leather color?
No. Liquid leather rebuilds the damaged surface. A matching leather dye is usually applied after drying to achieve a visually perfect color match.
Can I repair any scratch with it?
No. Liquid leather is usually unnecessary for a superficial scratch without any indentation. A simple color refresh is often sufficient. However, noticeable indentations can be thinly filled.
Can liquid leather repair a hole in a car seat?
A small, stable hole can often be repaired; frequently, suitable backing is necessary first. Large holes, seam damage, brittle edges, or damaged upholstery should be handled by a professional.
How long does liquid leather need to dry?
The existing product instructions state approximately 1–2 hours for a thin coat. Temperature, humidity, and application thickness can affect drying time. Allow to dry completely before painting and use; do not accelerate drying with a hairdryer.
Is liquid leather suitable for synthetic leather?
For many stable synthetic leathers, yes, after prior testing. In cases of extensive delamination or peeling coating, a small local repair is usually insufficient.
Which size should I choose?
10 ml is suitable for a small, single area. 20 ml offers more reserve for multiple small defects or a thicker layer build-up. The required amount depends on the depth and extent of the damage.
