Leather repair transitions
A repair transition is where the treated patch meets the original surface. Colour, gloss, texture and coating thickness all influence visibility.
Meaning
The transition is the area between repaired and retained material. It can show through differences in colour, gloss, texture or a raised edge. A matching colour name alone does not guarantee an unobtrusive result.
During repair
Plan the work on a sample and keep application thin. Existing seams or leather panels may provide useful boundaries. In the middle of a panel, aim for a controlled transition rather than a thick rim. Inspect each dried coat from several angles before adding colour.
Check product suitability and follow the instructions before use.
