Leather perforation

Understand perforation in car leather and how to account for open holes when cleaning, repairing and recolouring.

Meaning

Perforation is a regular pattern of holes in a leather panel. It describes the construction, not the shade or suitability of a repair product. Holes alone do not prove that a seat has a particular ventilation system.

During repair

Dose colour and cleaner sparingly to avoid accumulation in the openings. Check the edges after every coat. Tears along rows of holes differ from simple colour wear and need assessment before coating. Do not probe the openings with sharp tools.

Check product suitability and follow the instructions before use.
