Bycast leather: construction and care

Bycast leather typically consists of split leather with an applied polymer coating. The coating determines much of its appearance and feel.

How can you identify it?

The surface may look smooth and uniform, sometimes glossy. Appearance alone is not enough for a reliable distinction from coated imitation leather.

Cleaning and repair

Remove dust using a soft cloth and test cleaners in a hidden area. Avoid strong solvents. When the coating peels or cracks, recolouring alone cannot reliably restore its adhesion.
